Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most difficult but favored poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant variation, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A round of betting ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of betting ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants will have to put together the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where many players can get confused. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to utilize exactly three cards from the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical approach in almost every poker game.

The lower hand is more complex, but certainly opens up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be made, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The low hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.

It may seem difficult initially, following a few hands you will be able to get the base subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an overwhelming array of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous individuals battling for the high, and many trying for the low hand.
