Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complicated but popular poker games. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has grown in popularity so quickly.

Omaha Hi-Lo begins exactly like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting happens at which point the river card is revealed. The players must attempt to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where many players get flustered. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, in which the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must use exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the best hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the identical concept in just about all poker games.

The lower hand is more difficult, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand available, the high hand takes the entire pot.

It may seem difficult initially, after a couple of rounds you will be able to get the basic subtleties of play with ease. Since you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing collection of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have numerous individuals trying for the high hand, as well as a few shooting for the low. If you like a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha 8 or better.
